The third evening yesterday was about "Living God's values". We identified the five Gospel values that are most important to us, and we thought about how we as individuals and as a community can better live out these values.

This is a summary of the evening.

And here is the list of all the Gospel values that were identified, in order of importance to us.

Our values are crucial to who we are and what we do. So what do you think? Do you agree? Is anything missing? Is anything unclear?

  1. Really good and stimulating outcome. A few more thoughts:

In the Visions for Worship session, we also came up with several values as part of our vision, e.g. "being open to God and to each other", "non-judgemental", "ownership", "welcoming and inclusive", etc. And I am sure, when we talk about the vision for the church in the community, we will identify a few values, too. It would be good if they could be combined with the outcome of the Values session.

Related to this, the values that did not quite make the top five still seem to be important and should not be forgotten.

Finally, a challenge: it is easy to make statements about the values we aspire to. But how can we ensure we live them out, rather than just talk about them? Any good thoughts on this challenge?
